The recent announcement by Minister of Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh was that the Govt has taken a decision to ban Bt brinjal "For now" and more research will be made before bringing it back.So the Monsanto's (the American Bio-Tech company which was behind this Bt brinjal) "Funds" hasnt worked out for time being but they will "Try" to bring GM(Genetically Modified) crops to India.
Why they are so desperate?the main reason is the price of the seeds.
For ex. While 15 Grams of normal seeds cost say Rs.50 The price of 15gm of GM seeds will be Rs.5000.
Also unlike normal crops which yield seeds when they ripen these GM crops will never produce any seeds.This is to make sure that the farmers should keep begging these money fattened companies like Monsanto.Also when Bt cotton was introduced in Vidharba the land became sterile after harvesting the cotton and lead to around 1 lakh farmer suicides.So why the Govt is so desperate to bring in GM crops?who knows?
Also its said that GM crops when taken in can cause severe side effects ranging from loss of fertility to cancer in extreme cases.
Does the Govt had the guts to ban such a dangerous thing?no.Dont they know the ill-effects of these GM crops even before trying to introduce them?
Americans have a strange habit.They'll use the best for their own use and when it comes to others they'll focus only on money no matter the people using its product.
When the Americans have slowly shifted to Organic farming which is free of pesticides and insecticides they have also banned GM crops for their use.But they dont care about other countries because money is the most important thing for them.
Already in the name of Green Revolution all lands have been spoilt by insecticides and pesticides(GReen Revolution was mainly to promote these insecticide & pesticide companies) the lands have been damaged to the most possible extent and a weaker present generation is the most visible result of it.Hail MS .Swaminathan for more Doctors to groom and earn due to a poor immune generation.
So introduce GM crops and make the next generation worst than the previous one.huh..
